Positivity: A Girl Crush Tea Party

When Assemble was approached by the lovely 'Jealous Curator,' Danielle, to host the Seattle Girl Crush Tea Party (at the sweet suggestion of our awesome friend, Melanie) we were beside ourselves with excitement. Then, upon hearing that Ms. Tif of Dottie Angel fame would be our guest artist, even more happy squealing ensued.

The Girl Crush Tea Party at first glance is coming-together of introspective bloggers and creatives to chat, create art and learn. However, upon actually witnessing one, I will say that there is much more to this project than meets the eye. Each person who participated communicated with such honesty, a feeling that I have almost each and every day. I have to say that I have this feeling when I look at blogs such as The Rockstar Diaries or Cup of Joe: a deep admiration for another's life and work, mixed with tiredness and envy. That feeling of "will I ever be this good/creative/beautiful/together?" One can take that feeling and run with it, or use the admiration for positivity in one's own work and life. It's difficult, but important! Listening to the ladies describe their obstacles and triumphs was inspiring and invigorating.

And just as amazing: the food! Catered by Macrina Bakery with wonderful donated cupcakes from (always our favorite) Trophy Cupcakes, and donated coffee treats from Caffe Vita.

Plus, a hopeful note for those of you who missed it! The Portland Girl Crush Tea Party is still open for business (i.e. seats!) Click here to sign up for Girl Crush Portland, or browse other cities. All seat costs go to the creation of the party, and any extra is donated to a local arts organization. See below for some photos and if you're still wishing for more, click to see Assemble's album.

What a great idea! Its looks like you had a wonderful time. I'm so glad you mentioned "that feeling", I get it too! But sharing ideas and supporting one another is certainly the way to go. Cupcakes with deer on them help too :)

Cupcakes with deer are never a bad idea. Thank you guys so much for hosting this amazing event. It literally changed my life. More on that in tomorrow's Girl Crush post. :)
